Matrixx announces new leadership team for OTC Zicam

Matrixx Initiatives Inc., a Bridgewater-based manufacturer and marketer of Zicam, announced Tuesday it has a new leadership team.

Zicam is an over-the-counter cold shortening remedy, Matrixx said.

The new team is comprised of CEO Marc Rovner; Phil Bramel, senior vice president; Gulam Khan, vice president of marketing; and Craig Stoll, vice president of customer strategy and insights.

Rovner joins Matrixx with more than 30 years of experience in consumer health and wellness, working at companies such as Unilever, Pfizer and Reckitt-Benckiser.

“I have been a loyal Zicam user for many years, personally benefiting from the cold-shortening effects on many occasions. It was natural for me to spearhead an organization with a brand I rely on and trust,” Rovner said. “Zicam continues to gain new fans year over year, and as a brand we are committed to investing in capabilities and strategies to substantially accelerate growth so even more people can come to know and experience its incredible cold remedy benefits. It’s a rare opportunity that merges diverse career experience with a personal passion for a product.”

Bramel will be responsible for developing company objectives to promote sales and customer satisfaction. Prior to Matrixx, he worked at Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Boehringer-Ingelheim.

“Our target customer lives a full life, and there’s an urgency to get back to living that life without the burden of cold symptoms,” Bramel said. “We hope to deliver on that promise with a new strategy that will reinforce Zicam product benefits.”

Khan has more than 17 years of experience in the CPG industry, most recently leading the Philips Norelco franchise. He will be responsible for sales of Zicam through product innovation and marketing.

“The potential for Zicam to help millions of people shorten their cold and enjoy life’s most important moments is incredibly inspiring. I have an extremely passionate team, a renewed brand strategy and new ownership committed to our success,” Khan said.

Stoll will be responsible for creating new business and enhancing Zicam’s value. He has more than 30 years of experience in health care and nearly 20 years of experience in customer strategy.

“This organization is filled with people who care about helping consumers in their journey to live their best life every day – even when they have a cold,” Stoll said. “We have infinite room to grow as a business within our space.”
