Certara acquires pharmacometric software product

Certara, a Princeton-based drug development solutions company, has acquired Pirana, a popular product for pharmacometric modeling results, it announced recently.

The workbench software provides users with tools for modeling and simulations.

“We are thrilled that Pirana, which has been used by our scientists for years, will now be part of the Certara technology portfolio,” Thomas Kerbusch, president of Certara Strategic Consulting, said in a prepared statement. “Our acquisition of Pirana affirms our commitment to creating a holistic, agnostic, efficient and impactful modeling and simulation ecosystem that leverages tools that exist today and those that will emerge in the future.”

The product was developed by Ron Keizer in 2007, and is available for both desktops and cloud-based computing.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
