NJM Insurance Group, the West Trenton-based personal auto insurer, said Thursday morning it is the first insurer in the nation to earn the title of “Auto Claims Certified” under a new J.D. Power program.

The Personal Auto Insurance Claims Certification Program recognizes personal auto insurers committed to providing customers with outstanding claims experiences.

“As a company that exists for the sole service and benefit of its policyholders, we’re thrilled to be the inaugural recipient of J.D. Power’s Insurance Claims Certification,” CEO and President Mitch Livingston said in a prepared statement. “This certification provides strong independent validation that we continue to meet our underlying mission to provide value-based insurance solutions to our policyholders with the highest levels of service, integrity and financial stewardship.”

To qualify for the certification, NJM was evaluated on its overall customer satisfaction with claims experiences, in comparison to 52 insurance brands. It also passed an audit that evaluated 90 claims experiences, as well as an assessment of operational best practices.

“We thank NJM for their active participation in this process and congratulate them for their achievement as our first Auto Claims Certified carrier,” J.D. Power Director of Insurance Jessica McGregor said in a statement.
