Valley National Bancorp names new CFO

Wayne-based Valley National Bancorp, the holding company for Valley National Bank, announced Wednesday it has appointed Michael D. Hagedorn to senior executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective Aug. 10.

Hagedorn will be succeeding Alan Eskow, former chief financial officer, who previously announced he will take on a senior advisory role at the bank.

In this role, Hagedorn will be responsible for all finance and capital market strategies while working closely with the bank’s board and executive leadership. He will also oversee financial reporting, accounting, taxation, corporate treasury, balance sheet management and investor relations. He will report to Ira Robbins, CEO and president.

Prior to Valley, Hagedorn was CEO and president of UMB Bank and vice chairman of UMB Financial Corp. Prior to UMB, he held a roles of increasing responsibility with Norwest Bank and Wells Fargo.
