Introducing ROI-NJ: A disrupter in business media based in N.J.

Why did you decide to be based in New Jersey?

It’s a question I’ve asked hundreds of business leaders over the past four years as a business journalist.

And, now, it’s one I get to answer.

ROI-NJ, a multimedia business portal and publication, is launching its digital version Tuesday afternoon from its offices in Cedar Knolls.

ROI-NJ is the result of a vision shared by myself, Publisher Tom Hughes and CEO Amy Smith.

Our name stands for Return On Information. Our aim is to be known as the go-to source for business information that impacts, inspires and influences the state’s amazingly diverse group of companies, its leaders and their workforce as well as the politicians, lobbyists, civic leaders and the various associations that help steer policy.

Who’s moving in … and who’s moving out.

Who’s adding to its workforce … and who is subtracting.

Who’s merging and acquiring … and who is going out of business.

Those are the staples.

But ROI-NJ is about so much more.

We will cover all the major industries and sectors with information that can help you and your business:

  • Health care;
  • Real estate;
  • Manufacturing;
  • Logistics and transportation;
  • Law;
  • Banking;
  • Accounting;
  • Marketing;
  • Sports and entertainment;
  • And more.

And we’ll also write about the biggest issues and influences in today’s work world:

  • Women in business;
  • Diversity and inclusion;
  • Corporate culture;
  • Work-life balance;
  • The millennial mindset.

That’s not all.

We’ll have stories that speak to the lifestyles of the key decision-makers. Even more, we will highlight those who are making New Jersey a better place to live and work.

We will have regular features on nonprofits and companies doing the right thing for the state.

We call it “Good to Great,” as in, do good work so you can do great things in your community.

While we are reaching you digitally Tuesday, we will have a print component premiering in October. We also will have award events, conferences, round-table discussions and networking opportunities.

We will be the connector of businesses and businesspeople.

And we only have one rule: We’re all about Jersey.

The state has a vibrant business community, one determined to make New Jersey a better place to live and work.

We’re dedicated to covering it.

That’s why we decided to set up shop here.
