Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals officially opened its new office space on Route 206 in Bedminster on Monday at an event celebrating the specialty drugmaker and its 500 workers who have moved into the 190,000-square-foot facility.

U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-N.J.), was among the guests at the opening of the facility, where the company will provide support for its Specialty Brands unit, including hospital therapies products and the autoimmune and rare diseases lines. Mallinckrodt is based in the U.K., with its U.S. headquarters in St. Louis.

“Mallinckrodt is doing important work for patients across the country and world,” Lance said at the event. “I am pleased to welcome the Specialty Brands office to Bedminster, as well as to meet the team of professionals who are tasked with this critical work. The life sciences sector in New Jersey is shaping 21st-century health care advancements around the world. Work done at Mallinckrodt’s office will help address the unmet medical needs of countless patients in our communities. We need this expertise in New Jersey up and running.”

Mallinckrodt invested heavily in the building, including a complete renovation of the property, where it occupies more than 80 percent of the facility. The company has added 330 new jobs in Somerset County, it said, and can accommodate further growth.

“Bedminster has proved to be an excellent setting for Mallinckrodt, allowing us to build out a collaborative work space for our New Jersey-based employees, and meet the needs of our fast-transforming business,” CEO and President Mark Trudeau said in a statement.

Mallinckrodt also announced a $100,000 donation to the Princeton University Preparatory Program as part of the opening event.
