Former judge named Wilentz’s general counsel

Retired Superior Court Judge Frank Ciuffani of Middlesex County has been named general counsel of law firm Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer.

Ciuffani, who has served for 14 years on the bench, was the judge in an ongoing case filed by Saint Peter’s Healthcare System against Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey over the OMNIA tiered network plan.

He rejoined Wilentz in April 2017 to lead its Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice.

Ciuffani takes over as general counsel after former shareholder Ellen Torregrossa-O’Connor departed to serve as New Jersey Superior Court judge in Monmouth County.

“We are fortunate and proud to have Frank Ciuffani serving as our general counsel,” said Brian Molloy, president and managing director of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer. “His longstanding experience both on the bench and at Wilentz is of great benefit to the firm in this key advisory position.”

Ciuffani previously practiced for 29 years at Wilentz in the firm’s business litigation group.
