Uber and Mack-Cali Realty Corp. on Thursday unveiled a new partnership aimed at helping modern workers live car-free.

Under the commuter ridesharing partnership, which launched Thursday, Mack-Cali will pay for tenants’ Uber rides during commuting hours, up to $15, to and from four Metropark office complexes. The pilot program will last three months.

“We’re constantly looking for new ways to up the convenience quotient for our office tenants, and this partnership with Uber is an innovative way to do so,” Michael DeMarco, Mack-Cali’s CEO, said in a prepared statement. “We realize our tenants work long, sometimes unpredictable hours. We hope that, by providing them with subsidized Uber rides, we can help simplify this aspect of their lives.”

Mack-Cali, the largest property owner in New Jersey, specializes in urban and suburban office developments. It said the initiative will connect tenants with transit stations and offer an amenity that promotes convenience an employee health.

“Working with Mack-Cali to help commuters reach public transit is part of Uber’s broader vision for the future of urban and suburban mobility,” Sarfraz Maredia, Uber’s regional general manager for the Northeast U.S., said in a statement.

Tenants at the following buildings are eligible:

  • 333 Thornall St., Edison;
  • 343 Thornall St., Edison;
  • 101 Wood Ave., Iselin;
  • 581 Main St., Woodbridge.

The buildings will have an Uber pickup/dropoff area, integrated into the Uber app.

The program is part of Uber’s larger national effort to promote shared mobility.
