New Jersey added 6,400 private-sector jobs in January, according to the latest report from Roseland-based ADP.
The human resources and payroll company said in its monthly ADP Regional Employment Report that the state gained the jobs primarily in the services sector, which added 5,500 positions. The goods-producing sector added 900 jobs.
Among industries, both professional and business services and trade, transportation and utilities added 900 jobs each for the month.
However, the December jobs figure was revised downward from an estimated 4,900 to slightly more than 3,900 jobs gained.
