Provident Bank adds SVP, deputy lending officer

Provident Bank has created a new senior vice president and deputy lending officer position, hiring a veteran banking executive for the role, it announced recently.

Larry Favre will assist the Lending Division with review and approval of commercial loans, as well as helping relationship managers structure new and existing commercial loans and more, the Jersey City-based bank said in a news release.

“I’m pleased to add Larry to our Commercial Lending team,” Don Blum, executive vice president and chief lending officer, said in a prepared statement. “He brings with him extensive expertise in lending and a keen understanding of the credit needs of businesses, which will greatly enhance our efforts to maintain exceptional credit quality and continued growth of our commercial loan portfolio.”

Favre has more than 25 years of experience in commercial credit and lending, most recently serving as senior vice president and senior credit officer with Wayne-based Valley National Bank. He has also worked for financial firms including JPMorgan Chase, Niagara Bank and FleetBoston.

He will work out of Provident’s location in Iselin.
