Council of Carpenters announces promotions

The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters announced leadership promotions at the Edison-based union.

David Haines has been named assistant executive secretary-treasurer and William Banfield has been promoted to New York state regional manager.

John Ballantyne will continue to serve in his role as executive secretary-treasurer. William Sproule, NRCC president and New Jersey regional manager, and Robert Naughton, tri-state regional manager, will continue in their roles.

“Over the course of the last several years, our council has grown significantly in both our membership and in the states that we represent,” Ballantyne said. “As we continue to grow, we want to ensure that our council meets the demands of our members and these staff changes will help us to meet these growing demands.”

In his new role, Haines will support the EST office and serve as liaison between the council and the new Carpenters Benefit Services Inc. He will also focus on finances and supervise the Research Department.

Haines previously served as the Northwest New York regional manager since 2011. He has been a member for 35 years. He is also the first vice president for the NRCC and trustee to a variety of carpenter benefit funds.

Banfield previously served as Southeast New York regional manager since 2011. He is also second vice president for the NRCC and trustee on the Northeast Carpenters Fund.
