Amazon is laying off 36 employees in its Jersey City office as part of a reorganization of that office that will see other employees transferred to Newark and New York City.

“We have large offices in New York City and Newark, and we’re moving employees from Jersey City into these offices to help the teams be even more efficient and collaborative,” an Amazon spokesperson said.

The moves were posted in an online WARN notice Thursday morning.

Amazon is quickly becoming one of the largest employers in the state, with more than 14,000 workers.

Last week, the e-commerce retail giant announced it was opening a new fulfillment center in West Deptford, its ninth in the state. The location will add 1,000 more jobs.
