Little Falls-based Cantel Medical Corp. has reached a nearly $25 million deal to acquire a Belgian health care software solutions firm, it announced Wednesday.
Cantel, which delivers infection prevention and control products, said the purchase of Aexis Medical BVBA includes $21.1 million in an upfront payment and $3.7 million in earnings payments due two years after closing.
“We’re excited that Aexis Medical is now part of Cantel, and we welcome their employees to our team,” Jorgen Hansen, Cantel’s CEO and president, said in a prepared statement. “The integration of Aexis Medical’s robust IT solutions will enable us to transform how we innovate and approach customers holistically to address their unmet infection prevention needs using health care data analytics.”
Aexis provides information technology solutions supporting day-to-day management of instrument reprocessing workflows and data reporting for hospitals and other health care professionals. The 60-employee firm had revenue of $4.2 million for the 2017 calendar year.
“This acquisition also allows us to enter into a largely untapped global market for health care information analytics in infection prevention that will advance our business strategy and better position us for future sustainable growth,” Hansen said.
