Morristown-based Schindler Elevator Corp. announced Wednesday it partnered with Morristown Habitat for Humanity to build a duplex home for two local families in Morristown.
The home, which is located at 10 Willow St., was celebrated during a ribbon-cutting ceremony which marked the end of construction.
Over the past year, Schindler said it has provided $100,000 for the duplex project and recruited nearly 150 Schindler employees to participate.
Schindler’s staff worked alongside Andrade-Escobar and Rico families to complete construction.
“Schindler is committed to creating positive impacts in our communities,” said Mike Yurchuk, vice president, human resources for Schindler. “It’s so meaningful for us to serve right here in our own backyard. We all feel tremendous pride in being a part of this project that goes beyond our office walls to help these deserving families build their new beginnings.”
Morristown Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, reduces substandard housing in Morris County by working with low-income families to build new homes and rehabilitate existing ones.
