Daiichi Sankyo CFO leaving for Blue Shield of California

Sandra Clarke, chief financial officer for pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyo Inc. in Basking Ridge, is leaving the company to take a position with Blue Shield of California.

The San Francisco-based health insurer said Clarke, who had been a senior vice president and CFO of the U.S. subsidiary of Tokyo-based Daiichi Sankyo Ltd., will be its SVP and CFO, effective Aug. 6. She replaces the retiring Mick Murray.

Blue Shield of California also said Jeff Semenchuk has been hired as SVP and chief innovation officer, a new position.

“To transform the health care system and fulfill our mission, we need creative, dynamic leaders,” Paul Markovich, Blue Shield’s CEO and president, said in a prepared statement. “Today, I’m excited to announce the addition of two such leaders to the Blue Shield team — Sandra Clarke and Jeff Semenchuk.”

Clarke has also held senior finance roles with Philips Healthcare and Siemens Water Technologies Group.

“This is a dynamic time in U.S. health care,” she said in a statement. “One of the highly compelling reasons to join Blue Shield is the organization’s mission to improving health care for everyone. I am excited to be part of the team that will make this happen.”
