Hylan continues to grow with acquisition of 2 companies

Hylan, a Holmdel-based specialty communications engineering and construction services company, said Monday it has acquired two business units from California-based consulting and engineering services company Tetra Tech Inc.

The two companies, Western Utility and Tetra Tech Utility Construction, were formally acquired June 30, Hylan said in a news release. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Western Utility, which provides utility construction and maintenance services in the Chicago area, will continue operating under its current name and under the leadership of current President Tim Hayes.

TUC, which provides fiber placement and utility construction services in the Phoenix area as well as Sacramento and Southern California, has rebranded as Hylan West. The company is now led by Slade Ottney, TUC’s executive vice president.

“On behalf of Hylan, we are excited about these two acquisitions and how they strategically contribute to our plans for national growth,” Hylan CEO Robert DiLeo said in a prepared statement. “Western Utility and TUC nicely complement our existing services and also bring to the growing Hylan family a significant number of highly skilled and highly talented team members.”
