Joseph Scott, CEO and president of Jersey City Medical Center, a RWJBarnabas Health facility, has been named chair of the board of America’s Essential Hospitals, RWJBarnabas announced Tuesday.
America’s Essential Hospitals represents more than 325 members is an association “for hospitals and health systems dedicated to high-quality care for all, including the vulnerable,” according to its website.
Scott has been a board member on AEH since 2015.
“America’s Essential Hospitals plays a fundamental role in ensuring that our most vulnerable patients have access to the most high-quality care,” Scott said. “Eliminating health care disparities across the communities we serve has been a key driver for both Jersey City Medical Center and the RWJBarnabas Health system as a whole. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with leaders from across the country to advance the work of safety-net hospitals and health systems and ensure access to quality care for all.”
Scott has been CEO and president of Jersey City Medical Center since 2008. He also serves as the executive vice president of the Office of Health Care Transformation for RWJBarnabas Health. Additionally, he is a member of the New Jersey City University board.
Before his current role, he was CEO of Broward General Medical Center.
