Union County College in Cranford announced it has named Carlos Barrezueta its new dean of social sciences, business and history.
Barrezueta joined the educational institution in Spring 2013, serving as its ombudsman and affirmative action officer. In the Summer 2015, he was named assistant dean for social sciences, business and history.
As the new dean, he will be responsible for supervising and evaluating the division’s faculty and staff, and will advocate for the needs of the division. He will help design new programs and enhance the existing division’s curriculum. The division includes major and courses in business, education, history, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, paralegal studies, liberal studies, sports management and hotel, restaurant and tourism.
Before UCC, he was the executive director of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Initiatives at Miami Dade College.
“Dr. Barrezueta has been a dedicated member of the administration at Union, and I look forward to working with him in this new role. In this enhanced position, he will provide guidance and assistance to our faculty so they may continue to steer our students towards timely degree completion,” said UCC President Margaret M. McMenamin.
