N.J. American Water purchases family-owned water company in Roxbury Twp.

Voorhees-based New Jersey American Water announced Thursday it has agreed to acquire Roxbury Water Co., a family-owned and operated water utility that provides its services in Morris County.

“We are looking forward to welcoming residents served by Roxbury Water to our family of customers,” said Deb Degillio, president of New Jersey American Water. “Our staff is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and providing the same great level of quality and service that we provide to our customers throughout the state.”

Roxbury Water began providing service in the 1950’s and currently serves about 3,900 residents and commercial connections in Roxbury Township.

“I am pleased to be transitioning our family business to New Jersey American Water,” John F. Hosking, president of Roxbury Water, said. “My family is very proud of the quality and service we have provided to our customers for more than 60 years and it gives me peace of mind to know we are leaving our life’s work in their expert and caring hands.”

Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
