Meadows Original Frozen Custard is taking up root in Somerville, Paramount Assets announced Thursday.
The frozen treat franchise celebrated the grand opening of its 800-square-foot space at Paramount’s 92 West Main St. property.
“This retail property is situated on a busy downtown block and has a very high intrinsic value, and it generated tremendous interest from many potential tenants,” Samir Guzman, executive director of leasing and marketing for Paramount, said. “We have a certain vision for this building, and the challenge was tying this vision with Somerville’s desire to attract high-quality retailers and restaurants. Our goal was to find a concept with an established track record but not necessarily a national name – that hybrid is difficult to find but, ultimately, Meadows was the perfect fit. We expect this tenant to enjoy tremendous success at this location.”
Meadows Original Frozen Custard was founded in 1950 in Duncansville, Pennsylvania and today currently includes more than 25 locations spanned throughout six states.
“Meadows is a place where family and friends get together to enjoy everyone’s favorite dessert and we wanted to bring that same atmosphere to downtown Somerville,” said Thomas Vigneault, co-owner. “Our goal is to offer the best and most authentic homemade frozen custard to our customers.”
The franchise offers customers frozen custard, frozen yogurt, shakes and sundaes, smoothies and Italian ice.
“Creating the right tenant mix is more than just filling space. We strive to create a diverse co-tenancy where retailers, restaurants and service providers all complement each other,” Guzman said. “Paramount Assets has a significant presence in the communities where our properties are located, and we’re always cognizant of developing a retail environment in which both tenants and the town can be mutually successful.”
