Two Roads Hospitality named as operator of planned Bell Works hotel

The hotel atop Holmdel’s Bell Works will be part of the Destination Hotels portfolio, according to lifestyle company Two Roads Hospitality, which will operate the venue.

The company will open a conference center and reception ballroom this fall, it said in a news release Thursday, with the 186-room hotel to follow.

“Bell Works is one of the most pioneering developments of today, reinvigorating the economy and elevating the landscape of one of New Jersey’s fastest-growing regions,” Two Roads CEO Jamie Sabatier said in a prepared statement. “The new Destination property will be an amalgamation of both historic architectural elements and modern amenities, and is designed as a central gathering place for the entire community.”

The property will be housed on the sixth floor and feature a restaurant, rooftop bar, spa and other amenities in addition its 186 oversized guest rooms. The conference and event facilities will include 40,000 square feet of meeting space, including an auditorium, kosher kitchen and atrium spaces.

The hotel project was announced in February by Holmdel-based Somerset Development, which has turned the former Bell Labs building into a “metroburb” property featuring offices, retail and more.

“We envisioned Bell Works as a microcosm of innovation, where the community can connect and collaborate within an epicenter of business, dining and culture,” Somerset President Ralph Zucker said in a statement. “We are proud to have brought a former hallmark of advancement back to life, reinventing the historic Bell Labs as Bell Works.”

Two Roads Hospitality was formed in 2016 by the merger of Commune and Destination Hotels. The Denver-based company operates independent hotels under brands including Destination. The Bell Works hotel would be the first Destination property in New Jersey.
