New Jersey attorney leads mission to host scouts from Puerto Rico

New Jersey attorney Mark Tallmadge’s Eagle Scout background gave him a small part to play in the Puerto Rico relief effort.

The unlikely connection meant that Tallmadge, a principal at Bressler, Amery & Ross P.C., saw the opportunity to host a group of Boy Scouts and leaders from Puerto Rico, above, at the end of July.

“We have a lot of clients in Puerto Rico, too,” he said. “So, it was a natural collaboration in that way.”

The law firm paid for the camp fees for the group. They spent the week at Sabattis Adventure Camp in the Adirondacks, a mountain range in in northeastern New York.

“During the trip, I was able to talk to boys about their difficulties, about how long it took before they had fresh water and electricity,” Tallmadge said. “In many ways, this camping trip was actually a luxury for them. They were incredibly appreciative. And they really enjoyed it, which is the important thing.”
