Join Financial Executives International’s New Jersey chapter for an event: “New Jersey’s pension crisis and budget troubles: How they affect our economic future and what can be done.”
The event will take place from 6-8:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at The Manor, 111 Prospect Ave., West Orange.
The speaker will be Brendan T. “Tom” Byrne Jr., trustee, The Fund for New Jersey; former chairman, New Jersey State Investment Council; and former member, New Jersey Pension & Health Care Benefits Study Commission.
Mr. Byrne is the one person in New Jersey who served on panels that have dealt with the New Jersey pension crisis from both an investment perspective and from a structural perspective. The New Jersey State Investment Council oversees the deployment of about $75 billion in pension assets. The New Jersey Pension & Health Care Benefits Study Commission made recommendations to the governor and Legislature about how to resolve one of the worst pension funding crises in the nation. Mr. Byrne has spoken extensively about what the pension crisis means for public employees and for the state’s budget, taxes, public schools, and business climate.
This event is open to FEI Members and qualifying guests. To learn more about FEI New Jersey, membership or this event, please contact Danielle at (203) 763-9255 or email nj@financialexecutives.org.
