A number of sports celebrities joined DraftKings at the launch celebration of its Sportsbook app in Hoboken recently.
The formal unveiling of the DraftKings Sportsbook app was timed to the start of the NFL season, the gaming company said. The event took place at the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten.
“At DraftKings, the start of the NFL season is perennially circled on our calendars, and this year was arguably the most highly anticipated opener ever,” Ezra Kucharz, DraftKings’ chief business officer, said in a prepared statement. “The momentum here is palpable, and we have a lot worth celebrating recently, including new daily fantasy innovations and our DraftKings Sportsbook launch, which took only 38 days to reach 1 million bets placed on the platform and received over 104,000 bets during NFL opening week.”
The app launched in August, offering legal mobile and online sports betting options to New Jerseyans. It is part of a partnership with Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.
DraftKings said the 1 millionth bet was placed Sept. 7.
