Former Horizon exec becomes Assembly Majority Office communications director

Former Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey executive Kevin McArdle has been named the new communications director for the New Jersey Assembly Majority Office, Speaker Craig Coughlin announced Wednesday.

McArdle, who has worked in both traditional media and corporate communications, will now be responsible for highlighting and promoting the legislative efforts of the 54-member Democratic caucus.

“I’m proud to have someone on our team with the expertise, intelligence and professionalism that Kevin possesses,” Coughlin (D-Woodbridge) said in a prepared statement. “He will be an asset to our outstanding communications team and also to our caucus, as we continue to promote an agenda of affordability for middle-class families in New Jersey.”

On the communications team, McArdle joins Regina Wilder and Eva Loayza, who are deputy communications directors, and fellow new hire Liza Acevedo, who will serve as Coughlin’s strategic communications adviser and spokesperson.

Acevedo most recently was deputy press secretary for Gov. Phil Murphy.

“Liza has experience developing communication strategies, which will be instrumental in getting our message out and ensuring it reaches the people we want it to reach,” Coughlin said. “I’m happy to have her round out our communications team.”
