Fox Rothschild LLP, the Philadelphia-based law firm with a major presence in New Jersey, is expanding into the Southeast through a merger with a large North Carolina-based firm, it announced Thursday.
Fox Rothschild, which counts Atlantic City, Morristown and Princeton locations among its 21 offices, will merge with Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP, effective Nov. 1. The move will add 130 attorneys to the firm and give it six offices in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The firm will have more that 900 attorneys nationally after the combination.
“Expanding our footprint in the Southeast through this merger is an important milestone for the firm,” Mark L. Silow, Fox Rothschild’s chair, said in a prepared statement. “We have explored opportunities in this region for many years, and are delighted to have found in Smith Moore Leatherwood a firm with a superb roster of talented attorneys who share our values, our approach to client service and our entrepreneurial focus.”
Fox Rothschild said the move not only expands its footprint, but strengthens practice areas including manufacturing, clean energy, transportation and logistics, as well as sports law.
