Brisas Bakery and Restaurant, based in Elizabeth, has been named the “Official Empanada” partner of the New York Red Bulls, becoming the first official empanada of any professional sports team in the U.S.
Brisas has been operating a stand offering fans chicken, beef and vegetarian empanadas this season at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, the team said.
“As the first-ever official empanada of a major U.S. sports franchise, we are honored to make history with the New York Red Bulls,” David Orozco, chief development officer, Brisas, said in a prepared statement. “This partnership was born with the shared belief in putting customers first by offering delicious Latino products meant to be enjoyed by anyone, ranging from a meat lover to vegetarians, unifying fans of all backgrounds.”
Brisas has been operating in the Elizabeth community for more than 20 years, through its bakery, restaurant and factory.
“Our club is proud to partner and welcome the local, family-owned Brisas Bakery and Restaurant to Red Bull Arena,” the Major League Soccer team’s general manager, Marc de Grandpre, said in a statement. “We are excited for our fans to enjoy the great empanadas that Brisas offers.”
