Parsippany clinical services firm expands in Europe

Parsippany-based Canfield Scientific is expanding its presence in Europe, acquiring German company Visiomed AG, a maker of dermoscopy systems, it announced Monday.

The new business, in Bielefeld, Germany, augments Canfield’s existing clinical services operation in Utrect, The Netherlands, the company said in a news release. The resulting combination has decades of experience in aesthetic documentation, 3-D imaging and more.

“The addition of Visiomed’s best-in-class optical and digital dermatoscopes are a perfect extension to our imaging portfolio,” Doug Canfield, president of Canfield Scientific, said in a prepared statement. “Furthermore, their commitment to excellence and organizational culture was a natural fit with our own.”

The Visiomed leadership team will take on roles with Canfield, including CEO Dirk Holle becoming the leader of Canfield Scientific GmbH, a new Canfield subsidiary. Peter Klar, Visiomed’s global head of sales and marketing, will become Canfield’s chief sales officer for Europe.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
