The last hospital suing Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey over its OMNIA Health Plans has settled the case, Horizon confirmed to ROI-NJ on Tuesday night.
Valley Health, parent of Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, was the final plaintiff out of seven original hospitals and health systems that had sued the state’s largest health insurer over its tiered network plan.
“Horizon is pleased to have reached an agreement with Valley Health System,” spokesman Tom Vincz said in an emailed statement. “We look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with Valley and working together on innovative, value-based programs that deliver quality, affordability and customer experience to our members and their patients.”
A report on NJ.com on Tuesday night first said Valley and Horizon had settled the 2015 lawsuit out of court, on the day the trial was scheduled to begin.
“Valley Health System is pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Horizon that is beneficial to the hundreds of thousands of New Jersey residents Valley serves,” attorney Michael Furey said in a statement quoted by NJ Advance Media.
A second plaintiff, CentraState Health System, withdrew from the suit last week, leaving Valley standing alone.
