Upscale rental building in Somerville nears completion

SOMA, an upscale rental building in downtown Somerville, is almost ready to make its 2018 debut, according to its developer Sterling Properties.

Construction is near completion on the luxury four-story building which will have a mix of 69 studio, one- and two-bedroom units. Initial occupancy is slated for December.

Designed by Comito Associates, homes will range from 585 to 1,290 square feet and will be priced from $1,550 to $2,700. They will feature tall ceilings, washer/dryer in unit, stainless steel appliances and designer finishes. The building will also have a fitness studio and technology lounge.

SOMA, which will be located at 110 South Bridge Ave., is within walking distance to Somerville’s Division Street Plaza and Main Street corridor. The property is also close to New Jersey Transit’s Somerville Station.

“It’s no secret today’s renting public increasingly wants to live in an electric, urban-style environment with retail and transportation at their fingertips,” Nick Hollenbeck, Sterling’s director of sales and marketing, said. “That’s exactly what they’ll find a SOMA which will serve as a beautiful addition to one of New Jersey’s most popular downtown districts.

“Within a few minute walk, residents will have access to the Somerville train station, shops, bars, restaurants, and so much more. SOMA was also designed to meet LEED Silver standards which will go a long way in helping our residents and the community reduce their carbon footprint. A neat component of our LEED initiative will be our resident bike share. The idea is that rather than getting in a car and driving the bikes will allow our residents to pedal into town, save on emissions and also shop locally.”
