Fairfield-based Crispy Green Inc. has partnered with Rutgers Athletics to provide its freeze-dried fruit snack brand to Rutgers athletics, students and fans, Rutgers-IMG Sports Marketing announced Thursday.
Rutgers-IMG is the media rights holder of Rutgers Athletics.
Under the deal, Crispy Green will become an “Official Fueling Partner” of Rutgers Athletics and become part of the Fueling the Scarlet Knights program. The program helps support the Rutgers Sports Nutrition staff in nutritional services for student athletes.
Crispy Green will also be found in all concession stands and available to fans at the Rutgers Athletic Center, including all basketball and wrestling home games for the 2018-2019 season. Crispy Green will also be found at other campus outlets and digital signage areas.
Chris Faust, Crispy Green’s chief revenue officer, helped develop the partnership and is excited to deliver the brand to Rutgers.
“Students represent the future and making the right healthy snack choices start with having the right healthy snack options available to them,” said Faust. “We’re looking forward to growing the partnership and confident the Rutgers-IMG Sports Marketing relationship will provide the model for other universities in the IMG network to follow.”
John Willi, Rutgers IMG general manager, said Crispy Green is the perfect brand to help encourage healthy habits in the Rutgers community.
“Crispy Green is a great fit in our continuing effort to encourage healthy nutrition and lifestyle choices amongst the Rutgers community,” Willi said. “It’s a great, single-ingredient snack option for the games, on campus and at home.” Other wellness-related partnership efforts have included the R FIT fan health and wellness program and the new Horizon BCBSNJ Healthy Huddle concession stands at Rutgers football games.
