3 N.J. organizations win $125K affordable housing grants from TD Bank

Three New Jersey organizations were among 25 nationwide awarded $125,000 grants from the TD Charitable Foundation, the giving arm of Cherry Hill-based TD Bank.

The grants were part of a $3.125 million effort dubbed the “Housing for Everyone” competition and aimed at expanding access to affordable housing.

The three New Jersey recipients were: Community Loan Fund of New Jersey, in New Brunswick; Greater Bergen Community Action, in Hackensack; and Volunteers of America Delaware Valley, in Camden.

The competition was part of TD Bank’s “The Ready Commitment,” a multiyear effort to help communities prosper through $775 million in awards by 2030 in four areas: financial security, a more vibrant planet, connected communities and better health.

“The winners of this year’s Housing for Everyone competition embody The Ready Commitment pillar of financial security,” Lisa Gruner, head of social impact and TD Charitable Foundation. “TD is honored to fund these organizations’ projects, which will help to increase financial wellness to families and individuals across our footprint.”

Other winners came from states throughout TD Bank’s coverage area, up and down the East Coast from Maine to Florida. Organizations provide access to affordable housing for families, individuals, the elderly, immigrants, veterans, the disabled and others.

TD said it has awarded more than $25 million in grants through the competition since 2006.
