Show & Tell: How property owners can leverage technology to reduce building expenses

Jeff Hendler is CEO of Logical Buildings.

We asked him about how property owners can leverage technology to reduce building expenses.

Energy is a big-ticket expense at any multifamily property, but landlords usually consider electricity that powers common areas and building systems a fixed cost that can’t be reduced. Today’s technology refutes that notion. Using a combination of sensors, software that tracks patterns of electricity, gas and water use, and artificial intelligence, a growing number of New Jersey landlords are gaining deeper insight into their buildings. With better knowledge about when and how electricity, water and gas are used, they’re often able to reduce consumption when costs are highest, netting savings of up to 25 percent of a building’s total energy costs.”
