AtlantiCare looks to build $38M campus in A.C.

Atlantic City could see a new $38 million HealthPark campus that could include a number of services catering to maternal and child health.

AtlantiCare, a health system in Atlantic County owned by Pennsylvania-based Geisinger Health, currently has an Atlantic City acute care campus, a primary care and urgent care facility in the new South Jersey Industries building, as well as a HealthPlex building. The system already has a HealthPark in Cape May County, as well.

The new campus would be built with a grant from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, but the details are still being ironed out, according to a source with knowledge of the plans who requested anonymity.

The plan for a new campus comes from a need, like with other health systems in the state, to provide more health care services outside of an acute care setting, the source said.

AtlantiCare spokeswoman Jennifer Tornetta told the Press of Atlantic City on Wednesday that the health system will share details at a future meeting.
