Moorestown automation component company buys N.Y. firm

A Moorestown-based distributor of factory automation components has acquired a New York-based company to bolster its geographical reach and product offerings, it announced Wednesday.

Shingle & Gibb Automation announced it has purchased KOM Automation, based in Amherst, New York, which also focuses on the industrial automation market. The deal helps Shingle & Gibb enter the upstate New York and northwestern Pennsylvania markets, as well as providing it with greater product lines, inventory and expertise. Both companies focus on product lines including Banner Engineering and Turck.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to associate with one of the longest-tenured distributors of Banner and Turck, and will carry on the Lamb family legacy of combining cutting-edge automation solutions with first-class customer service,” Shingle & Gibb President Brian Lepsis said in a prepared statement.

Bob and Marilyn Lamb founded KOM Automation more than 40 years ago.
