Destination Maternity adds pair of C-suite execs

Destination Maternity, the Moorestown-based maternity apparel retailer, has named two new members of its leadership team, it announced this week.

Dave J. Helkey was named chief financial officer and chief operating officer, effective Jan. 21, while Doug Goeke was named chief transformation officer, effective Wednesday.

Helkey, who will report to CEO Marla Ryan, has more than 20 years of financial and operations experience. In his new role, he will oversee finance, information technology, real estate, inventory management, human resources, logistics and more.

Goeke, who will report to the board of directors under a consulting agreement, has a variety of financial, operational and turnaround experience. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s multiyear strategic plan.

“We are pleased to have an executive of Dave’s caliber joining Destination Maternity,” Ryan said in a prepared statement. “We believe Dave’s experience and successful track record in retail, both online and in-store, along with his operations management and capital markets experience, make him ideally suited to fill the role of CFO and COO. We are excited to have Dave on board and look forward to the contributions he will make while managing the company’s strategic growth initiatives.

“We are also pleased to bring Doug Goeke and his extensive international and domestic expertise leading company turnarounds to our leadership team. Doug has a vast amount of experience creating value through strategic performance improvements across business segments, which will be invaluable to his efforts to oversee and support the advancement of our multiyear strategic plan, ‘Destination->Forward.’”

Helkey most recently served as CFO and COO of Things Remembered, a North American retailer; he has also served as a CFO in the health care industry. Goeke most recently served as senior vice president and general manager of support services North America at Babcock International Group plc, and has held executive roles with several Gategroup Holding Ltd. divisions.
