Second law firm is latest office tenant to commit to Ironside Newark

A Newark law firm is moving to the new Ironside Newark property, according to building owner Edison Properties.

The boutique firm Robinson Miller will take 4,001 square feet of office space on the third floor of the revitalized property. It is the second law firm to sign on at the property, following Bloomfield-based Pearlman & Miranda.

“We’re excited to welcome Robinson Miller to Ironside Newark, and believe its addition to the building is a testament to the evolution of today’s office market,” Michael Sommer, Edison Properties’ executive vice president of development, said in a prepared statement. “In today’s market, all prospective tenants are seeking a unique, dynamic environment for their workers.

“This agreement not only adds to Ironside’s already-impressive list of tenants, but serves as further proof that loft-style modern product is appealing to not only tech and creative-oriented tenants, but global corporations, law firms and a wide range of other industries.”

Edison is not only developing the property, it intends to move its headquarters there once the building opens in mid-2019. It is currently approximately 73 percent leased in terms of office space, with Mars Wrigley ready to serve as the anchor office tenant.

“Ironside Newark offered us the perfect opportunity to recommit to the great city of Newark, which has been our home for almost five decades,” Don Robinson, founding partner of the law firm, said in a statement.

Ironside Newark began construction in spring 2017, representing what Edison called the city’s first speculative office project in more than 30 years. It is located at the corner of Edison Place and McCarter Highway.

The building, designed by Perkins Eastman, will eventually include 456,000 square feet of offices, as well as retail and restaurant space.
