The international law firm Arnold & Porter formally opened its Newark office, which will be led by former U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Paul Fishman, it announced this week.
Fishman joined the firm as a partner in its New York office in March, and now heads up the firm’s Crisis Management and Strategic Response Team. He was U.S. Attorney for New Jersey from 2009 to 2017, primarily under President Barack Obama.
“Arnold & Porter’s Newark office, located in the heart of a city undergoing remarkable transformation, will offer the firm’s sophisticated capabilities to our existing New Jersey-based clients, those who face challenges in the state and federal courts, and those subject to governmental regulation in New Jersey,” he said in a prepared statement. “We also look forward to furthering Arnold & Porter’s deep tradition of pro bono work.”
Fishman will be joined in Newark by white collar defense lawyer John M. Fietkiewicz, a former colleague at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and other attorneys admitted to practice in the Garden State.
“Our firm has long been recognized for its litigation, transactional and regulatory work across a diverse group of industries,” Chairman Richard M. Alexander said in a statement. “Given our substantial relationships with New Jersey-based companies, and those doing business in the state, our presence in Newark will enhance our ability to effectively represent clients in this important market.”
Arnold & Porter has more than 1,000 attorneys practicing in 14 offices in the U.S. and internationally.
