Dermody exec Preston installed as new president of New Jersey chapter of NAIOP

Eugene Preston, a partner at Dermody Properties in Morristown, was installed as the new president of the New Jersey chapter of NAIOP.

Dermody, who previously served as vice president of public affairs, assumes the role from Dave Gibbons, CEO of Elberon Development Group.

Preston will serve a two-year term leading the real estate association’s state chapter.

“It is a tremendous honor for me to serve as president of this great organization, of which I have been a proud member for over 30 years,” he said at group’s annual meeting.

“I offer my congratulations to all the officers and board members who were elected this evening. To those returning, thank you for your continued service and welcome to the newly elected. I have no doubt that you will enjoy your new role with NAIOP, and I look forward to working with you.”

The following were named chapter officers for 2019:

  • Gus Milano, Hartz Mountain Industries (VP, public affairs);
  • Sam Morreale, Vision Real Estate Partners (VP, special events);
  • Matt Schlindwein, Greek Development (VP, education);
  • Mark Shearer, Rockefeller Group (VP, membership and communications);
  • Richard Burrow, Langan Engineering and Environmental Services (VP, associate affairs); and
  • Stacey Weinberg Kierman, Federal Business Centers (treasurer/secretary).

Newly elected first-time trustees include: Monica Casiello of US Title Solutions; Blake Chroman of Sitex Group; Michael Cohen of Liberty Property Trust; Kim Guadagno of Connell Foley; Jesse Harty of Prologis; Jose Lozano of Choose New Jersey; Sam Ruda of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey; and Dennis Waggner of Colliers International New York.

Preston is responsible for all land and building acquisitions, build-to-suit projects, development activities and asset management in the East Region at Dermody.

Previously, he was managing principal at Woodmont Industrial Partners, where he was responsible for acquisitions and operations. Prior to forming Woodmont Industrial Partners, he was senior vice president at Prologis, where he directed development and acquisition activities for the Northeastern Region, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia.

In his career, Preston has developed or acquired over 14.5 million square feet of industrial space.
