How did grid upgrades help A.C. Electric? See numbers

The investments Atlantic City Electric has made in modernizing its local energy grid has resulted in quantifiable improvements in service reliability for customers, it said Thursday.

The utility, a unit of Exelon Corp., said that, over the last five years, power outages have occurred 22 percent less frequently, and service restorations were 17 percent faster on average.

“Delivering improved service reliability year-over-year is a direct result of every one of our employees keeping our customers front and center in everything we do,” Tyler Anthony, senior vice president and chief operating officer of A.C. Electric’s business unit, Pepco Holdings, said in a prepared statement. “Whether it’s their home, their business or their car, our customers are more connected than ever to the local energy grid, which is why we are making sustained investments to make the grid more reliable and resilient and meet their evolving energy needs.”

A.C. Electric serves about 550,000 customers in South Jersey.
