Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City announced Tuesday it has established a Master of Science in finance — the first of its kind in the tri-state area.
The university will offer it as an accelerated program, where undergraduates can obtain their master’s in finance in five years.
The 30-credit program will be offered beginning fall 2019 and can be completed in nine months by full-time and accelerated students and 21 months by part-time students, Saint Peter’s said.
“Saint Peter’s University is located within minutes of major international financial centers including Jersey City’s Wall Street West and New York City’s Wall Street and Midtown districts,” Devin T. Rafferty, director of the master’s program in finance and assistant professor of economics and finance at Saint Peter’s, said. “Our location not only provides current students with unique opportunities in the finance industry, but also offers finance professionals a convenient setting to expand their skill set.”
The program’s curriculum will focus on a balance between macroeconomics and microeconomics aspects of finance; comparative central banking; the history of financial economic thought; and financial ethics.
