The chief medical officer of Morris Plains-based Immunomedics Inc. is leaving for a career opportunity closer to his home in Pennsylvania, the company announced Monday.
The biopharmaceutical company said it has commenced a search for a replacement for Dr. Rob Iannone, including identifying consultants who will provide support during the interim period.
“I am proud to have been part of Immunomedics and have full confidence in the capabilities of the team to bring (cancer drug prospect) sacituzumab govitecan to patients in a timely manner and help patients with difficult-to-treat cancers across the U.S. and the world,” Iannone said in a prepared statement. “My decision comes after careful consideration and is driven by my personal priorities and a desire to be close to my family after many years of having worked far away from home.”
Executive Chairman Behzad Aghazadeh said in a statement that Iannone will continue to assist the company during the transition period, as well as possibly providing counsel afterward and working to smooth Immunomedics’ new partnership with Everest Medicines.
