Rite Aid taps Wakefern Food exec. as new chief marketing, merchandising officer

Rite Aid Corp. announced Thursday it has tapped a Wakefern Food executive to serve as its senior vice president and chief marketing and merchandising officer.

The Camp Hill, Pennsylvania-based drugstore chain said Erik Keptner, who has more than 20 years of experience in retail marketing, will assume the role June 24.

In this role, Keptner will be responsible for all marketing and merchandising at the company. He will report to Bryan Everett, chief operating officer, Rite Aid.

“Erik is an experienced retail executive who has proven that he can integrate and manage all aspects of an organization’s marketing and merchandising assets to provide great customer experiences, operate efficiently and deliver growth,” Everett said. “We’re excited to welcome Erik to our team as we continue to integrate our marketing and merchandising teams and enhance our omni-channel presence to deliver a seamlessly connected customer experience that drives growth. We will benefit tremendously from his knowledge and expertise as we accelerate these critical efforts.”

Prior to Rite Aid, Keptner served as senior vice president of marketing at Keasbey-based Wakefern Food Corp., a retailer-owned cooperative with member companies that own and operate supermarkets. In that role, he led digital commerce and analytics, advertising, corporate merchandising, and digital media.

Before that, he spent 20 years with Ahold Delhaize in its Giant Food Stores division. There, he served in various roles of increasing responsibility including executive vice president of marketing and senior vice president of sales, marketing and merchandising.
