Newark Housing Authority seeks development partners

The Newark Housing Authority announced Tuesday it is looking for development partners to develop five sites in the city, ranging from affordable housing to market rate and commercial development.

The NHA said it issued a request for qualifications and proposals from private development firms to serve as partner to the NHA and various stakeholders.

“The RFQ/P represents an opportunity for NHA to partner with major developers in an effort to both leverage and monetize its assets. These projects intend to generate operating income that can be reinvested to produce mixed-income and mixed-use communities within the City of Newark,” Morris Warner, chief development officer, said.

The NHA said it encourages all interested in the RFQ/P to partner with local minority development firms “in an effort to sustain community business participation and workforce development.”

“I am pleased that in the construction of these sites, the Newark Housing Authority is sending a clear message that local minority and women-owned businesses are an integral part of their work to move Newark forward,” Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said.

The deadline to submit is Wednesday, July 10 by 3:00 p.m. For more information, click here.
