Adrian O. Mapp is mayor of Plainfield.
We asked him why the groundbreaking for The Station at Grant Avenue, a planned 90-unit residential community, is so important to the city.
“We cannot leave anyone behind. Often times, we hear that dirty word known as gentrification, where people are pushed out. But we are making sure that the residents that live here and want to be here have quality and affordable workforce housing. … Not only are we going to retain the people that are already here, but we are opening up the city for people to come in from wherever they are. … (It) will be a part of the experience that is Plainfield, a part of the economic revitalization and be a part of the renaissance that is the city of Plainfield.”
