First groundbreaking in Sparta commerce park

Developers broke ground for a flex building in Sparta, representing the first building in a new commerce park, according to real estate services firm NAI James E. Hanson, the broker for the property.

NAI Hanson, Berardi Development Co. and Joe Maggio Concrete and Masonry took part in the ceremony alongside Sparta Mayor Molly Whilesmith at 5 Aaron Way. The building will be a 10,400-square-foot industrial/flex space in the White Lake Commerce Park.

NAI Hanson’s John J. Schilp is executive leasing broker for the property. It is being developed by a joint venture of Sparta-based contractor Berardi and Wantage-based masonry and concrete company Joe Maggio, which is leasing half the building.

Leases are out for signature for the remaining portion of the property.

“White Lake Commerce Park is located in our Economic Development Zone, which brings clean ratables to Sparta Township,” Whilesmith said in a prepared statement. “The developers, Anthony and Alex Berardi, are well-known in Sparta for their many first-class commercial buildings.”

The joint venture plans to develop a neighboring property at 7 Aaron Way in similar fashion.

Schilp is also serving as exclusive listing broker for the remaining lots in the commerce park.
