Private equity firm acquires Oakland-based collagen products company

Collagen Matrix Inc., an Oakland-based developer and maker of collagen-based medical products, has been acquired by the private equity firm Linden Capital Partners, the Chicago-based firm announced recently.

Collagen Matrix makes products used for tissue and bone repair and regeneration in orthopedic, sports medicine, dental and neurosurgery markets. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The CMI team’s unique understanding of collagen-based technologies, along with their commitment to innovation and quality manufacturing make CMI stand out as a leading biomaterials developer and manufacturer,” Gerard Moufflet, operating partner of the health care-focused firm, said in a prepared statement.

Robert W. Baird and Pipper Jaffray served as CMI’s financial advisers, while Ropes & Gray LLP served as its legal adviser. William Blair served as exclusive financial adviser to Linden, while Kirkland & Ellis LLP served as legal adviser. Golub Capital and Northwestern Mutual provided debt financing.
