Jeff Menzel is a regional manager for Robert Half based in New Jersey.
We asked him about trends as the summer comes to a close:
“This time of the year, the end of the summer, is an interesting time in the workplace. Many colleagues and clients are taking last-minute vacations and things can feel ‘slow’ at times. If you find yourself in the office during a slow period, use that to your advantage. While other projects might be on hold, talk to your manager about taking on additional projects that can help you stand out. Or perhaps seek more training and development opportunities. Typically, when Q4 rolls around, there is a mad dash to close out the year strong. The end of the summer is a great time to take on additional work and gain visibility with your employer while others might be out.”
