Camden-based American Water announced Wednesday it has named Mike Doran president of Pennsylvania American Water and senior vice president of its Mid-Atlantic Division, effective Sept. 9.
Doran will be succeeding Jeff McIntyre, who is leaving the company.
“We thank Jeff for his many contributions to our company and we wish him all the best,” Walter Lynch, chief operating officer, American Water, said. “We are also very pleased to welcome Mike. Having grown up in Scranton, Pa., myself, I know Mike is a great fit for the Pennsylvania and Mid-Atlantic roles. He has spent the majority of his 36-year utility career building relationships across the Commonwealth. While he most recently served as the vice president of operations for Duquesne Light Co. in Pittsburgh, he spent more than 30 years with Allegheny Energy and FirstEnergy, resulting in ties throughout the region.
“Mike also has deep utility experience, a strong commitment to excellent customer service and a passion for safety, and he successfully builds and leads teams. I know he looks forward to working with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and staff, elected leaders, customers and the community at large,” he said.
Prior to American Water, Doran was at Duquesne Light, serving in a variety of roles including chief safety executive. Before that, he was the regional president of Metropolitan Edison Co. He also spent 31 years with FirstEnergy and Allegheny Energy.
