Show & Tell: Some common-sense tips for when you are away from home

Gary Capone is vice president of field services for Franklin Mutual Insurance.

Going away is great for us, but not for our empty homes. In addition to using a home monitoring system, here are a few easy, non-tech tips:

  • Move valuables out of sight;
  • Unplug non-essential electronics and appliances.
  • Also unplug yourself from social media. Posting those vacation pictures tells people that you’re not home.
